I am finally back in So. Cal! I moved back this weekend and am now focusing on Proud & Pretty in Pink full time!
On Saturday we had a table at the Models of Pride Resource Fair at USC which is a free one-day conference that focuses on the issues and interests of LGBTQ youth up to age 24, and their allies. We gave out a lot of info about PPP and received quite a bit of interest. We met a lot of great young people and we hope to work with them in the future. Emails went out today to the 58 people who wanted to hear more about us. It was a great opportunity and we have Angelina Castellanos to thank for getting us in :)
Sunday we had a CakePopps&Convos party to discuss the issues surrounding women in the upcoming election. We discussed birth control availability, the controversial stances on abortion, Planned Parenthood, and the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (Watch her story HERE). Proud & Pretty in Pink does not get into political debates nor do we force views upon the girls and women involved with us. But we do encourage everyone to educate themselves on the issues. We hope that the females of PPP will be voting on November 6, 2012. Yesterday we enjoyed yummy cakepopps and had good discussion regarding the view points and opinions about the issues listed above.
So after a successful weekend, I move onto a week full of busy work. I welcome the challenge and am excited for what's next. Meetings, emails, and tons of social media... Hope everyone has a great week and each one of you feels Proud & Pretty ;)
xoxo,
Chelsie
