Being a female in this society comes
with many struggles. I am a real supporter of the Keep it Real Challenge. I can only hope that magazines will agree to print one non photo shopped image each issue. As a
female, I have struggled with body image and self esteem issues for many
years. The magazines and
billboards have not helped with my problems and I believe they have actually
contributed to the issues. Girls everywhere are looking at these photos that
are printed and trying to become that "perfect" girl. I don’t believe
that there is such thing as complete perfection and that is exactly what
magazines show in these photo shopped pictures. Photoshop is polluting the
minds of girls into thinking that that kind of beauty is attainable. But IT IS NOT! That kind of perfection does not exist. Everyone has flaws and things that they
don’t like about their bodies. We need to promote embracing real beauty and not
what is fake. Encourage girls to be proud of themselves and show pictures of
real women so those girls can have real ideals about beauty. Happiness and health is what should
be shown, not fake and photo shopped images that the females of today try to
live up to.
