TEEN SEX... It's happening!

Most, if not all, teenagers are faced with the ever important decision of whether or not to have sex... The average age of first sexual intercourse is 17.  Many teens are having sex before the age of 17.

I am sad, angry, and shocked when hearing of a girl in middle school becoming pregnant. I am disappointed when I find out that, even with free condoms available, teens are still the largest group transmitting STD's.  I am confused when hearing about high school girls trying to get pregnant.

Our society is becoming increasingly sexual.  From incredibly sexualized ads on TV, in magazines, and on billboards to music, movies, and daytime TV showing young people having sex.  We can't escape it and it's hard to convince teens that waiting is the best option when they are surrounded by peers, media, and other's telling them to do it.

Teen sex and Teen pregnancy have become a serious problem in some communities.  Teens are participating in sexual acts without using protection. STD's are being spread and more and more young girl's are becoming pregnant.

It is so incredibly important to be able to talk about the physical and emotional risks of sex.  Whether we want to accept it or not, teen sex is happening!  Kids are exposed far earlier then in previous years and they are getting information from their peers and the media.  They need to be given the FACTS about sex.  They need to be able to talk to an adult about what's going on in their lives.  They need to understand that the decision to have sex is final.  You can't take it back and if you're not prepared there could be life altering consequences...

I believe in EDUCATION.
I believe in DISCUSSION.
I believe in CONDOMS.
